Delayed Start to Season

By KCRBL 04/07/2024, 7:15pm EDT

Mother Nature has forced a delay to the start of the KCRBL season

Due to the major snowstorm of last week, many coaches and league officials were without power and/or internet for multiple days. As a result, families should hear from their player(s) coach(es) in the next day or two if they were not contacted before the storm.

Before the snowy weather of two weeks ago and this most recent storm, we were planning on an April 8 start for Majors, Minors, and Rookies baseball practices. However, fields will likely not be available for two more weeks, as the snow must melt and the fields need to dry.

We will inform coaches as soon as we are given approval to use each field in our league boundary. With any luck, we can start before April 22, but that is now our current start date for these baseball levels. We are currently reworking schedules with this new start date and will likely extend the season for these levels to late June.

Softball is similarly affected by the weather and, just like baseball, as soon as we get clearance to use the fields, we will notify coaches.

2024 Baseball and Softball Registrations Are Open

By KCRBL 01/25/2024, 7:45am EST

The 2024 Spring season of Cal Ripken Baseball and Babe Ruth Softball is just around the corner. Registrations are now open for this season.

Click on the Registration button in our menu bar to register your children for participation and/or yourselves for coaching/volunteering.

KCRBL made a conscious decision to keep our registration fees the same as the last few years. All levels of softball (8u, 10u, 12u) are $75. Baseball registration is $90 for Majors (ages 11-12) and Minors (ages 9-10), and $50 for Rookie (ages 7-8) and T-Ball (ages 4-6). Ages are based on “league age.” “League age” is defined by Babe Ruth League Inc as the player’s age as of May 1, 2024, for baseball, and as of December 31, 2023, for softball.

Registration is open to all youth within our league boundary of Brookfield*, Effingham, New Durham*, Ossipee, Tuftonboro*, and Wolfeboro*.
*Towns included in our Softball program

Also, Junior Babe Ruth Baseball is here for another season, for ages 13 to 16, at $150 per player. Yes, Babe Ruth League Inc has added age 16 to the Junior Babe Ruth level.  For 2024, our league boundary includes Alton, Alton Bay, and Middleton. Know people in those towns? Let them know that their 13- to 16-year-olds have a Babe Ruth league to play in this summer. The registration fee covers tournament fees, uniforms, umpire fees, insurance, equipment, and more.

Deadlines to register are: Majors/Minors/Rookie Baseball on Monday, March 18; Softball on Thursday, March 21; T-Ball on Friday, April 5; and Junior Babe Ruth Baseball 13-15 on Wednesday, May 1.

KCRBL accepts all major credit cards for payment through their online registration system. www.kcrbl.com

If money is an issue and is holding you back from signing your child up for KCRBL, we encourage you to apply for a sports scholarship and even equipment assistance through The Nick's Youth Assistance Scholarship Program or Ossipee Children's Fund.

The Nick, a long-time partner of KCRBL, is proud to be able to award upward of 50 scholarships annually and is committed to ensuring all children in our community have the opportunity to play organized sports. Scholarship applications and more details can be found at www.thnick.org/yap and submitted to Holly@TheNick.org or mailed to The Nick, PO Box 838, Wolfeboro NH, 03894.

The Ossipee Children's Fund provides tuition assistance for many programs, including  recreation, for eligible children living in the KCRBL towns of Effingham and Ossipee. The organization was established on the premise that children of working parents or parents seeking employment should be assured a secure environment in which to learn, socialize, and play. Scholarship applications and more details can be found at https://www.ocfnh.org/ .

When seeking financial assistance, you will not be able to complete the registration on kcrbl.com right away. Notify KCRBL that you’ve applied for scholarship, and then send us a copy of the YAP certificate to KCRBL upon receipt. At that time, KCRBL will issue a “scholarship code” to apply to your registration during checkout.

Keep visiting the KCRBL website and their Facebook page to get the latest news and information, from evaluations to tournament teams and more! Check our FAQ page for answers to common questions, too.

Fall Interleague Baseball - Cancelled

By KCRBL 08/08/2023, 10:15am EDT

UPDATE 8/11: Due to unexpected reasons, the fall league is not happening after all. For players who wish to play fall baseball, Roger Allen Baseball in Rochester is still accepting registrations through Sunday, August 13. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Kingswood Cal Ripken (KCRBL) has joined Farmington 500 to form an interleague fall baseball experience for players who were in Minors or Majors this past spring or those who will be in those levels next spring.

You can register your youth athlete on our website for fall baseball.

https://www.kcrbl.com/page/show/7577985-registration

You will see the two levels to which players can be registered. The registration is $70 per player, which covers shirts, hats, umps for home game days, and game balls. We are seeking sponsors to cover all other costs. We anticipate forming one team of 12-15 players per level. If a level has enough interest for two teams, we will look at forming two teams. There are no cuts, tryouts, or evaluations.

Games will be on Saturdays, with times varying. Teams play one or two games. We are talking with other leagues about including their teams in our fall scheduling.

Teams can practice at The Nick. The typical fall baseball schedule is one practice per week (though coaches/teams can schedule more), whichever afternoon/evening works best for the team, and a doubleheader on Saturdays.

KCRBL is talking with this past spring’s coaches about coaching the fall teams; fortunately, we have interest.

Sample Schedule (could change depending on number of total teams from the leagues):

Kingswood home Saturday
Farmington vs. Kingswood, 9 a.m.
Belmont vs. Farmington, 11 a.m.
Belmont vs. Kingswood, 1 p.m.

Farmington home Saturday
Kingswood vs. Farmington, 9 a.m.
Kingswood vs. Belmont , 11 a.m.
Belmont vs. Farmington, 1 p.m.

More details to come. Keep coming back to kcrbl.com.

Picture Day Pickup Part Two

By KCRBL 06/19/2023, 8:45am EDT

With many pictures still to be picked up, we are scheduling a second pickup time at the Snack Shack at the Nick for Wednesday, June 21 from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

More than half of the pictures were picked up on Friday during our Cal Ripken Majors and Minors championships. It was a busy night and a great way to end our regular league season.

For those who were missing something from their order when they picked up on Friday, the photographer has been notified of the missing component.
